To further our research into live betting at BetMGM, we examined the Premier League fixture between Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United. In the run up to the game, there were 335 separate betting odds attached to this fixture. We focused our attention on the Match Winner market. Pre-match, Tottenham were 12/25 to win, West Ham were priced at 5/1 and the draw was 15/4. This gives a pre-match betting margin of 5.29%.
During the game there were 320 markets available. Spurs were 4/9 to win, West Ham were 9/2 and the draw was priced at 4/1. This gives an in-play margin of 7.43%.
As with other betting sites operated by LeoVegas Gaming, live streams are available. However, there is no fixed schedule available, even after talking to their Live Chat team they couldn’t provide details of a schedule. There’s plenty of choice when it comes to BetMGM’s live betting facility. Most sports available at the standard sportsbook have some form of live odds too. Margins are around average compared to the standard across the bookmaker industry. Live streaming could be organised a lot better, it’s a bit hit and hope at the minute. But, in general terms, the in-play betting service BetMGM provides is an attractive one.
The speed of updates is also impressive. In fact, the scoreline updated quicker on the app than it did on the TV we were watching the game on!

There is a bit of a lag when navigating between screens in the app, especially when you first log in.It also doesn’t seem to be particularly optimised as an app – it has the appearance of visiting a desktop site using a mobile browser rather than a dedicated betting app. In addition to this, the app takes up a hell of a lot of space on your device, for iOS the app requires over 250MB of space, four times as much as many other betting apps we’ve used.
However, we’re nitpicking really. The app does work well, despite the loading time in between screens. One aspect that works particularly well is live streaming. The stream was visually clearer using our Android app rather than the desktop site version.
In all, this is a pretty decent app. Sure, there are a couple of issues which we’ve highlighted that could be improved, but nothing that severely hampers our betting experience.
While the app is certainly usable, it doesn’t really compare with the ease of use and overall betting experience the desktop site provides. It’s just much easier, and quicker, to find bets using the desktop site. The app does have some good points, and if needed we wouldn’t have too much of a problem using it, but if we have a choice the desktop site wins every time.

There’s lots to be happy with at BetMGM. There’s a good range of sports available to bet on, both pre-match and in-play. Promotions are focused mainly on Profit Boosts, but these can be incredibly rewarding.
The desktop site looks good and is very user-friendly. It’s easy to navigate through the site and find bets you want to place. Live streaming is also an option, though it suffers from what a lot of LeoVegas Gaming sites do with a lack of a schedule. Still, at least it’s an option that doesn’t require a funded account or a bet placed to access.
Onto the ‘to be improved’ list. The app isn’t much cop, with slow loading times between screens a particular frustration. Standard bookmaker offers like the offers discussed above aren’t available either, though the generous Profit Boosts do make up for this. There’s not a great choice when it comes to payment methods, another negative.
The welcome bonus is a definite plus point, though. It’s easy to claim and requires reasonably little in the way of deposit and stake
So, onto rating BetMGM. We feel that a 3/5 is too harsh, but it’s not a 4/5 site at this moment in time.
