One of the most important things to do when gambling, is to do so safely. Online bookmakers have a number of tools available to support their customers to gamble responsibly and prevent an enjoyable pastime from becoming a problematic addiction. At StarSports, these are labelled as ‘Limits & Responsible Gambling’ and can be found in the main account menu.
All of these controls can be set via this menu. They include deposit limits, where you can limit the amount you can deposit over a daily, weekly or monthly period of time.
It is also possible to set a ‘playbreak’, where you can prevent yourself from betting at StarSports for as little as 24 hours, then in weekly increments up to six weeks. If six weeks doesn’t feel like long enough, you can access the Self-Exclusion tool, which allows you to prevent yourself from accessing the StarSports website completely for a period of between six months and five years, in yearly increments.
Finally, if you feel that you have a handle on your gambling budget but want to avoid spending too long betting at any given time, you can set a ‘Reality Check’, will will discretely remind you that you have already spent 30 minutes, 1 hour, 90 minutes or ,2,3,4 or 5 hours on the StarSports site.
We strongly recommend that you utilise these features to protect your safety and allow you to continue to enjoy gambling responsibly.

Live betting can make the experience of watching a sporting event a lot more exciting, and with the increase in mobile betting and smartphone apps, its popularity has only continued to grow. StarSports has joined many other online betting sites in offering In Play betting services to their customers.
As with anything in life, there are pros and cons attached to live betting. In the table below, we summarise some of the positive and negative aspects of in play betting.
At StarSports there are a number of different sports and events from around the world that you can choose to bet on In Play. The sports which you can bet on In Play include football, tennis, cricket, ice hockey and basketball.
We have looked back at the football match between Manchester City and Watford in the England League Cup (that we placed our bet on earlier) to do our research.
Pre-match, there were 20 markets available. These included Match Winner, Winner of Tie, Winner And Match Portion, First Half Winner, Correct Score, Double Chance, Half Time/Full Time, Total Goals (Over/Under) and Both Teams To Score.
We’ll take a closer look at the Match Winner market. Before play, Manchester City had odds of 1.1 (1/10) to win, and Watford had odds of 26 (25/1), with odds of 10 (9/1) for a draw. This means pre-match the bet margin was 4.76%.
Once the match had started, we found there were 19 markets available. The odds had changed to 1.015 for Manchester United to win and 56 for Watford to be victorious, with odds of 23 for a draw. This means the in-play bet margin was 4.66%. Showing that at StarSports, the odds quality remains equally as good In Play as it is pre match.
There are limited live streaming opportunities at StarSports. Currently, only selected horse races can be watched live. Live streaming opportunities are indicated by a green ‘watch live’ icon, which users can click to watch the live video stream. These are free to watch, but we found the quality was relatively poor and the stream was slow to load.
While StarSports are somewhat lacking in live streaming capabilities, they otherwise provide a good live betting experience to their customers. Odds quality is broadly average, but at least maintains the same quality both pre match and in play. There are a reasonable array of sports available to bet on In Play, with a good number of markets to choose from, beyond the basic match winner markets. Despite the lack of live video streams, high quality rapidly changing graphics (alongside a possession tracker for live football matches) provide punters with an alternative opportunity to keep track of the In Play action, allowing them to make more informed live betting decisions than they otherwise might, without this information.
Using the StarSports app is an enjoyable and functional experience. While it’s aesthetically pleasing, it is also intuitive to use, making it easy to navigate to the various features available. This makes for an entertaining betting experience.
There is the option to use Face ID to log in after the initial log in with username and password, and debit card details are saved from first deposit on desktop or app so there is no need to enter them on further occasions.
In Play events enjoy the same standard of live graphics as the desktop site, with pages quick to load. Overall, a pleasant gambling experience.
We found the StarSports app to be equally straightforward to use as the desktop site, with all of the same features. The app and desktop site both have the same attractive aesthetics and intuitive layout. However, we found that some features, such as ‘promos’ were more easily located via the desktop site, as the ‘promos’ tab on the app simply directed us to StarSports social media accounts, rather than any offers. Aside from that minor gripe, it is likely that determining which is better will be a matter of individual preference, depending on the needs of the user.
There is not currently a Welcome Offer available to new customers at StarSports.
There are several offers available to existing customers at StarSports. These appear across the top of both the app and the desktop site, for punters to peruse.
StarSports Existing User Bonuses Summary Table
Best Odds Guaranteed offers provide horse racing bettors with the highest odds between the starting price and the odds at the point the bet is placed. For this type of promotion, bets must be placed after a certain time on the day of the race.
These types of offers provide punters with a Free bet when they place a certain number of bets (or bet a certain amount of money) on a particular sport or bet type.
Extra place races payout as a win if the horse of your each way bet finishes fourth (or fifth) instead of in the top three.
With this type of promotion, bookmakers provide either a percentage of the initial wager or the full wager amount as a Free bet refund, if your bet loses under certain circumstances.
StarSports has plenty to offer its customers. A wide selection of sports with a huge number of betting markets and selections for each of them makes for some interesting and exciting betting options. Both the desktop site and app are attractive and user-friendly, making the betting process easy to navigate. Customer Service provides speedy and clear answers to queries.
While there are multiple promotions available across various different sports for existing customers, StarSports are lacking a welcome bonus. Also, most existing customer promotions either require a high outlay to be rewarded or only reward customers when they lose, so may not be quite as attractive as they first appear. However, it does mean that the blow of a loss can be softened a little.
While In Play betting is available, the number of events with live betting is limited, and live streaming is only on offer for selected horse races. That said, the quality of the live graphics is good and allows punters to follow events as they unfold, although this is no substitute for watching live. The odds quality could also be better, particularly for Premiership football matches.
Despite its limitations, StarSports provides its customers with a supportive and efficient betting experience. Therefore, we can award this provider a 3/5 rating.
