Regardless of odds, markets, betting options, the single most important aspect of betting is that you can do so safely. Being in control of your betting is vital. There are many organisations who can help you if you need it.
Bookmakers also provide a range of help tools for their customers. William Hill offer their Safer Gambling feature. There are a variety of tools customers can use to help you stay in control.
The first of these is Deposit Limits. You can set a daily, weekly or monthly deposit limit during the registration process and at any time as you bet. This can certainly help you stay in control of the amount of funds you’re transferring into your betting account.
Another is Product Blocking. William Hill offer a variety of facilities, like Vegas and Live Casino, alongside their Sportsbook. If you don’t want to have access to particular facilities, or see them advertised, you can ask the support team to remove these from your account.
You can also set Session Time Reminders. By doing so, you can keep track of how long you’ve been logged in to your account and placing bets.
Short Time Out and Self-Exclusion are also options. For a specified time of your choosing, you can ask William Hill to block your access to your betting account. You can also close your account permanently.
We highly recommend you consider using the tools described above. As we’ve touched upon, it’s hugely important that you bet safely and securely and take advantage of the help tools available to you.

An incredibly popular form of placing wagers, almost every bookmaker you can find will offer some form of in-play betting. There are many reasons why live betting is favoured over traditional betting. It can provide instant excitement and keeps customers interested in a particular event. Many bettors combine pre-match and live betting to try and find the best value, too.
There are positives and negatives to in-play betting. We’ve described some of these in the table below.
This operator offers a comprehensive in-play betting service. There are few bookmakers who can compete with the plethora of live sports odds William Hill consistently have available. Amongst the sports with in-play odds you’ll find football, tennis, volleyball, basketball, cricket, ice hockey and darts.
For our research, we analysed the MLB game between Kansas City Royals and Houston Astros. Pre-game, the Money Line odds were 2.63 on Kansas City Royals to win and 1.44 on Houston Astros to be victorious. This gives a pre-match margin of 7.4%. There were over 100 betting markets available on the game.
We then checked the markets available and the in-play margin after the first two innings. There were still almost 100 in-play markets available, which is fantastic to see. The odds had remained the same, meaning the in-play margin was still 7.4%
In addition to their exceptional in-play betting service, William hill also offer an extensive live streaming feature. Horse racing and greyhound racing feature heavily in the William Hill repertoire. You can also access live streams of selected football, rugby, darts and volleyball, amongst others. To access a live stream, all that is required is an active account.

The William Hill app is available to download on both iOS and Android devices. It’s functional, it’s easy enough to place bets, both pre-match and in-play. You can also access live streams via the app, which is certainly a plus point.
Navigation and loading times have proven a bit of a problem in our research. The app also logged us out as we tried to place a bet, although we only experienced this problem once. It’s also not especially visually appealing, particularly compared to some of the front runners in the betting app world. Bog standard is what comes to mind with the William Hill app, although this might sound pretty harsh.
However, we do prefer the app to the desktop site, which looks and feels pretty outdated. We actually found it easier placing a bet using the app (on the occasions it didn’t log us out trying to do so).

While the app certainly has its issues, we preferred the experience of betting via our mobile than we did the desktop site. The latter is absolutely jam-packed, it’s so busy it’s almost overwhelming. With the app, everything is compartmentalised a touch more, meaning an easier betting experience.
One aspect where the desktop site shines over the app is live streaming. Streaming tends to work much better on the desktop site, with little buffering.
The current William Hill bonus offer is Bet £10 Get £30 in Free bets. Find more details at the top of this review.

William Hill have numerous existing customer offers available. These can change throughout the sporting year, but the table below demonstrates the types of promotions you can expect to see available regularly.
Available on a range of sports and events, William Hill’s Bet & Get offer can reward customers with a Free bet when they place a bet on a selected fixture. For example, for the US Open customers who opt-in and place a £5 bet on the tournament will be awarded a free £5 bet to use on any tennis fixture.
On selected fixtures, William Hill offer their Bet Builder Xtra. Place a Bet Builder bet on any of the fixtures listed and your bet will be boosted by 25%. On occasion, the boost percentage can be increased.
Available on eligible horse racing, William Hill give their Top Price Guarantee on winning bets. If you bet with William Hill, but the odds at a stated competitor are greater, the operator will match those odds to give you the best possible price.
A new offer added to the William Hill site is Impact Sub. Available on selected competitions, if you place a Player bet but that player is substituted during the game, your bet will remain live on the player who has subbed on.
An offer that has become part of the repertoire of many betting sites, William Hill bring you 2 Up. Place a bet on a team to win and if they go two goals ahead, you’ll be paid out as a winner regardless of the final result.

There’s a lot of positive points to using William Hill. There’s a good range of sports to bet on when you sign up, with a decent range of promotions too.
Where William Hill excel is in their live streaming. Very few operators can compete with the streaming options available at the WH site. Similarly, the option to fund your online betting account using one of William Hill’s land-based bookmakers is something that many other operators are unable to offer.
While there are many things that William Hill do well, there’s a few aspects where they don’t perform as well as some other operators we’ve reviewed. The desktop site can be frustrating to use, as is the app. While there’s so much the operator has to cram into their site, it does make it much less user-friendly than some of their competitors.
However, the plus points do outweigh the negatives. You’d be hard pushed to find an operator offering so many markets on a plethora of sports and events. Overall, we’re comfortable in giving William Hill a 3.5/5 rating.
