One of the most important things to do when gambling, is to do so safely. Online betting sites have a selection of tools available to support their customers to gamble responsibly and help prevent an enjoyable pastime from becoming a problematic addiction. At Coral, these are labelled as ‘Gambling Controls’ and can be found at the bottom of the main account menu.
All of these controls can be set via this menu. They include deposit limits, where you can limit the amount you can deposit over a daily, weekly or monthly period of time; a maximum stake limit, where you can set a cap on the amount spent on a single spin on slots at the Coral casino; and a deposit curfew, where you can prevent yourself from making deposits at particular times, such as late at night or at weekends.
It is also possible to set a ‘playbreak’, where you can prevent yourself from betting or depositing at Coral for as little as 15 minutes up to three hours, once you have spent a set amount of time of between one and three hours on the website. Users can also set a ‘reality check’ whereby the Coral website will provide a pop up once you have spent a set amount of time playing casino games – this can be set in increments of 15 minutes, up to one hour.
If you feel that gambling is becoming more of a problem for you, then there are a number of steps that you can take to adjust your habits. Firstly, it is possible to block your access to certain products, such as the sportsbook, bingo, poker or the casino. Or, if you prefer, you can close your Coral account altogether.
On the other hand, if you just want to take a break from gambling, you can set a ‘time out’. This can be of any duration of between 1 day and six weeks and you will not be able to make deposits or access gameplay at all during this time. However, once your time out is complete, your account will be exactly as it was before.
For an immediate break, you can choose the ‘immediate stop’ option. Be warned – as soon as you click this, you will be unable to make a deposit, place a bet or receive emails about bonuses or promotions for the next 24 hours. We found that we activated this immediate stop simply through clicking on it as a menu option when perusing the gambling controls available at Coral; it is not something that requires confirmation.
We strongly recommend that you utilise these features to protect your safety and allow you to continue to enjoy gambling responsibly.

Live betting can enhance the excitement of watching a live sporting event, and with the increase in mobile betting and smartphone apps, it has continued to grow in popularity. Coral has joined many of its competitors in offering In Play betting services to their customers.
As with anything in life, there are pros and cons attached to live betting. In the table below, we summarise some of the positive and negative aspects of in play betting.
At Coral there are a number of different sports and events from around the world that you can choose to bet on In Play. The sports which you can bet on In Play include football, tennis, golf, snooker, table tennis, horse racing, ice hockey, handball, Esports, basketball, volleyball, cricket, American football and darts.
We have looked at a snooker match between Judd Trump and Chris Totten to do our research.
Pre-match, there were 30 markets available. These included Match Winner, Frame One Winner, Match Handicap Betting, Total Frames Over/Under, Which Player will Lead After Two Frames, Winning Margin and Total Points in Frame One.
We’ll take a closer look at the Match Winner market. Before play, Judd Trump had odds of 1.01 (1/100) to win and Chris Totten had odds of 17.00 (16/1) to win. This means pre-match the bet margin was 4.89%.
Once the match had started, we found there were 19 markets available. The odds had changed to 1.04 for Judd Trump to win and 10 for Chris Totten to take victory. This means the in-play bet margin was 6.15%. Showing that at Coral, the odds quality improves slightly In Play compared to pre match.
There are some live streaming opportunities at Coral. Live streaming opportunities are indicated by an orange ‘Watch Live’ icon underneath the event name in the In Play menu. Once users have clicked on the event, there is then a blue ‘Watch Live’ button underneath the match stats graphics, which users can click to view the live stream. There is no requirement to bet on the event to watch the live stream, but users do need to have a funded account or have placed a bet within the last 24 hours to do so, so it is not a truly free service.
We also found that for some events, despite the presence of the ‘Watch Live’ icon, there was no live stream availability at that time.
While Coral offers a wider-than-usual range of sports to bet on In Play, the inconsistency in the availability of live streaming of events and the need to have a funded account to be able to access what is available, is something of a hindrance to their offering.
However, the quality of live graphics and stats is good, enabling bettors to follow the state of play even without a live stream. Odds quality seems to improve In Play, which is a plus.
Using the Coral app is a positive experience. It is visually appealing and easy to use; navigating to the various features and betting markets is easy thanks to the app’s intuitive layout. This makes placing a bet an enjoyable process.
In Play events have their own spot on the top menu bar, making them quick and easy to access, as does the Promotions page, allowing punters to quickly see which offers they can take advantage of.
Overall, a solid betting experience.
We found the Coral app to be equally straightforward to use as the desktop site, with all of the same features. Both share the same brand aesthetics, and on the whole, the app shares the same layout as the desktop site, so users of one will easily be able to switch to the other with ease. Promotions are easy to find on both the app and desktop site, making it easy for customers to peruse current offers. Ultimately, which is best will depend on user preference.
We’ve talked about the Coral new customer offer at the top of this guide: £20 Free bet when you bet £5. Click below to take advantage of this welcome bonus.
18+ Eligible UK+IRE players. Paypal & some deposit & bet types excl. Min first £5 bet within 14 days of account reg at min odds ½ = 1 x £20 free bet. Free bet valid for 7 days, stake not returned. No cash-out, restrictions & T&Cs apply.
There are several offers available to existing customers at Coral. Promotions have a dedicated tab at both the app and desktop site.
Best Odds Guaranteed offers provide horse racing bettors with the highest odds between the starting price and the odds at the point the bet is placed. For this type of promotion, bets must be placed after a certain time on the day of the race.
These types of offers provide punters with a Free bet when they place a certain number of bets (or bet a certain amount of money) on a particular sport or bet type.
Extra place races payout as a win if the horse of your each way bet finishes fourth (or sometimes fifth) instead of in the top three.
With this type of promotion, there are no qualifying requirements. Bookmakers simply choose selected markets to offer enhanced odds on.
In conclusion, Coral has plenty to offer its customers. A very wide choice of sports to bet on coupled with a generous number of betting markets and selections for each of them, alongside the Bet Builder feature makes for some varied betting options. Both the desktop site and app are attractive and user-friendly, making the betting process easy to handle. Customer Service provides succinct answers to queries in good time.
Alongside their generous welcome bonus, which requires just a small investment to take advantage of, there are also several promotions across different sports for existing customers to enjoy. There are also opportunities to participate in free-to-play promotions. Bets are easy to place and withdrawal times are generally more efficient than those advertised.
While In Play betting is available, customers must have a funded account or have placed a bet within the past 24 hours in order to watch live streams. That said, there are live graphics and statistics available to customers who wish to track the action without making an investment in their Coral account. The odds quality at Coral is average, although we found that it improves slightly In Play.
Overall, Coral provides a good quality betting experience to its customers. Therefore, we can gladly award this provider a 4/5 rating.
