How to set safer gambling features at LeoVegas

With any type of betting, it’s so important that your operator of choice allows you to do so safely. To support operators, the British Gambling Commission have released a series of rules and regulations all betting sites must abide by in order to protect their customers.

It’s vital that you stay in control of your money and keep track of how much you bet. There are a variety of tools and guides that LeoVegas provide for their members to help maintain this control.

There are two focus points at LeoVegas. Firstly, through the Safer Gambling Tools tab, which can be found in the Main Menu on the left hand side of the bookmaker screen, you can set up the following limits: Deposit, Wagering, Loss and Session. You can also activate any or all of the Time-Out, Reality Check and Self-Exclusion tools.

Under the Safer Gambling Info tab, you’ll find a series of tools designed to help you stay in control of your betting, as well as more detailed explanations of what each tool can help with.

LeoVegas go a step further and offer their LeoSafePlay website.

We highly recommend and encourage you to consider any or all of these tools.

Live Betting / In Play betting at LeoVegas

Betting on live odds is an incredibly popular way of placing wagers. It can offer greater excitement than pre-match betting, with ever-changing odds providing thrilling action throughout the event.

There are some plus and minus points when it comes to betting in-play. Take a look at the table below where we describe some of the positives and negatives.

In Play Betting Pros and Cons

In Play Betting ProsIn Play Betting Cons
Can offer greater excitement than pre-match bettingRegular delays in bet placement
Can engage the bettor throughout the eventTypically less sports to choose from

How to bet In Play at LeoVegas

At LeoVegas the sports which you can bet on In Play include football, tennis, darts, golf, basketball, cricket, esports, handball, snooker, table tennis and volleyball.

To delve into how in-play betting works at LeoVegas, we concentrated our attention on the Premier League game between Liverpool and Bournemouth. Before the game, Liverpool were favourites to win, priced at 1.27, Bournemouth at 9.0 and the draw was 6.4. This gives a pre-match margin of 5.48%. There were 85 separate betting markets, excluding Bet Builder bets.

In-play, there were 69 separate betting markets available. While the game was still 0-0, Liverpool were priced at 1.22 to win, the draw was 6.5 and the Bournemouth win had odds of 9.5. This gives an in-play margin of 7.88%.

Live streaming at LeoVegas

At LeoVegas you can live stream:

Football

Tennis

Greyhound Racing

It’s worth noting that although live streaming is advertised, it is rarely available. We were told to visit the Live In-Play tab for all streamed events, but there is a distinct lack of options when it comes to accessing streams. Very few events actually had a stream available.

In Play betting at LeoVegas Conclusion

There’s a good amount of choice with the live betting options at LeoVegas. There’s decent animations so you can follow the play, even when a live stream isn’t available. Talking of live streaming, while this is sometimes an option at LeoVegas, we’ve found more of a variety of live streaming options at other betting sites.

In-play betting margins are generally greater than pre-match, which is disappointing.

LeoVegas Mobile App review

While we have come across better apps, the LeoVegas app offers greater functionality and an all-round more enjoyable experience than the desktop site. It’s easier to navigate around the site and place bets using the mobile app, particularly when it comes to searching for specific events.

The app does appear pretty cramped at times, but generally it performed well in our research. Loading times are also much quicker using the app than they are using the desktop or mobile site.

Pros & Cons of the App vs the Desktop site

After using both the app and the desktop site, we can safely say the LeoVegas mobile app provides a much more enjoyable experience. The desktop site is pretty cloggy and difficult to navigate through. The app, on the other hand, offers an intuitive, user-friendly experience. There’s greater functionality with the app and is generally much easier to use.

The app is actually a previous winner of the Best Native App award at the EGR Marketing and Innovation Awards.

You can download the app directly from the operator site or from the relevant app provider. Note that if you use the Play Store, the app is entitled Casino app. There is no dedicated Sports app, but you can access the Sportsbook once you’ve downloaded the Casino app.

Conclusion & Rating

While LeoVegas do offer a decent sports betting experience, it’s pretty obvious that the Sportsbook takes a back seat to their Casino and Live Casino facilities. There are a good number of sports to bet on, but fewer markets available than many of their competitors.

The desktop site can be pretty frustrating to use. It looks and feels too busy, and is difficult to navigate through easily.

The mobile app is much more enjoyable to bet with, with quicker loading times and easier navigation.

There are some good points to the LeoVegas Sportsbook site, but in reality it’s an online casino trying to do sports, rather than a Sportsbook providing the best possible experience for sports betting customers. We can only give LeoVegas a 2.5/5 rating.
