In this review, we’re going to take an in-depth look at the BetStorm bookmaker. It’s a relatively new option among UK betting sites, having been founded in 2021, and is operated by ProgressPlay Limited, based in Malta.

We decided to try it out because we saw that it is completely secure and regulated in the UK by the Gambling Commission under licence number 39335.

Stay tuned for this review as we’ll tell you about its strengths and weaknesses, the wide variety of sports on offer, its competitive odds, the available promotions, as well as how to contact customer support and the methods available for depositing and withdrawing funds.

BetStorm offers over 40 sports, which is a very, very good selection compared to what we usually see at other bookmakers.

We found the typical sports that everyone looks for at the outset, such as football, basketball, tennis, golf, Formula 1, MMA and baseball, but we also tried out other, less common sports that we don’t always see at other bookmakers, such as lacrosse, chess, surfing and even non-sporting events like Eurovision and politics.

They also maintain this high level of variety in their competitive gaming markets, standing out among modern esports betting sites thanks to their coverage of Counter-Strike 2 and League of Legends, something that many bookmakers have recently started to add, which showed us that this is a bookmaker that keeps up with the latest trends.

BetStorm Football

The football section blew us away; they cover practically every league you can imagine, , positioning themselves as one of the most complete football betting sites we have reviewed recently.

We only bet on the big ones, like the UEFA Champions League, Ligue 1, the Premier League and the Bundesliga, but although we don’t bet on others, we did have a look and saw that they have everything: women’s leagues, lower divisions and competitions from almost any country – Uzbekistan, South Africa, Lithuania, Morocco…

When it comes to live football betting, everything is perfect, just as you’d expect. Many matches have live video, and they also include head-to-head records, statistics, timelines and a live calendar, which we find incredibly useful for making sure you don’t miss a thing whilst betting.

BetStorm Horse Racing

Horse racing is a sport we follow closely and love to bet on, so here we really took the time to have a thorough look. As you would expect from top-tier horse racing betting sites, it covers the UK very well, with National Hunt and Flat Racing events, and fixtures we love such as the Cheltenham Festival. It also has plenty from Ireland, with the full Irish horse racing calendar.

Internationally, we were surprised to find we could bet on well-known racecourses and competitions such as ParisLongchamp Racecourse, Keeneland Race Course and Flemington Racecourse.

It doesn’t offer live betting, something we would have loved because it’s great fun with horse racing, although realistically that’s quite normal in this sport; the odds are good, which is ultimately what matters most to us when we’re betting.

BetStorm Tennis Betting

The tennis section is very well covered and has a wide range of categories, matching the variety found on the best tennis betting sites in the industry. . We bet on tournaments from the ATP Tour, the WTA Tour, both ATP and WTA doubles, men’s and women’s ITF events, and also Challenger tournaments. Obviously, the four Grand Slams are included: the Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon Championships and the US Open.

The odds are good, and when betting live, the animated screens and live statistics were a huge help; we followed the match point by point. What’s more, there are loads of betting markets, so we had plenty of options apart from the usual match winner.

BetStorm Basketball bets

In basketball, we found ourselves in the same situation as with other sports: we were blown away by the sheer number of competitions available to bet on. Our favourites – and the ones we find most entertaining – are the American leagues: the NBA, the WNBA and NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball.

We also found a huge range of options in Europe and other countries, including the EuroLeague, the ABA League, the EuroCup Basketball, the FIBA Europe Cup, the VTB United League, the FIBA, the BNXT League and leagues from countries such as Spain, Italy, Greece, Brazil, Israel, Africa and New Zealand.

Live betting worked flawlessly; you had head-to-head (H2H) stats, animated screens and live statistics, which really helped us keep up with the game whilst betting.

BetStorm other sports

We also tried out some less typical sports, such as table tennis. We saw that they covered quite a few competitions, including the best-known ones like the TT Elite Series, the Setka Cup, the TT Cup and the Pro Table Tennis League. We really liked it because there are always matches on and it’s a very straightforward sport to bet on.

We then tried baseball, where we saw they offered leagues from North America, Korea and Japan – something you don’t always find so easily at other bookmakers, which we appreciated as we really love this sport.

And something that caught our attention was the non-sporting bets. They had more options than we’d seen at other bookmakers. We’re quite keen on this sort of thing because we usually keep up with politics, so we were particularly excited about it. At the time we were testing it, you could bet on elections in the US, the UK, Australia, France and Ireland.

Welcome bonus

We found the welcome offer straightforward to understand and easy to unlock; you don’t have to bet hundreds of pounds or meet any strange conditions. If you bet $10, you get a $40 free bet, which is pretty good compared to many promotions that usually match your deposit but then have more complicated requirements.
  1. We made the first deposit of at least $10
  2. We placed $10 in real bets.
  3. The bonus appeared as pending in the account.
  4. Once those bets were settled and we’d turned over that $10, the $40 free bet activated automatically.
  5. We used that free bet on odds of at least 1.5.
  6. We had to wager the winnings from that bet once more before we could withdraw them.
  7. We had to do this within 7 days, otherwise the bonus would expire.
We found the requirements quite manageable, although you have to be careful with details such as not using Skrill or Neteller, not requesting a withdrawal prematurely, and doing everything via the sports section.

Other offers and promotions for existing users

In addition to the welcome promotion, we also came across quite a few more offers during our review; they have far more promotions than other bookmakers, particularly for specific sports and deposit tiers.

There are several ‘bet and get a free bet’ offers, for example:

  • With a $20 deposit, you get a $10 free bet for the Premier League
  • With a $30 deposit, you get a $15 free bet
  • With a $50 deposit, you get a $25 free bet
  • And with a $80 deposit, a $40 free bet

They all work more or less the same way: minimum deposit, a real bet first, and then you receive the free bet with minimum odds of 1.5 and fairly similar terms and conditions. They are simple promotions, but with different tiers depending on how much you want to deposit.

Then there are the more specific promotions, which we found quite interesting, for example:

  • Cashback on English Premier League bets
  • Cash refund on the World Snooker Championship
  • Cashback on ice hockey playoffs

These carry less risk, because if you lose on those specific events, you get part of your stake back in the form of a bonus.

Loyalty programme

We loved the Rewards Programme, especially because it makes you want to keep betting with the same bookmaker.

The more you bet, the more rewards you earn. We were automatically enrolled – we didn’t have to do anything complicated – and we accumulated points as we bet or completed missions.

It works in several ways: on the one hand, there are missions, such as trying out new games, activating features on slots or using certain bonuses, which earn you extra points. And then there are the levels and badges, which increase based on your activity and unlock more exclusive benefits and offers.

We were able to use the points we accumulated in a sort of rewards shop, where we exchanged them for things like free spins, deposit bonuses or cashback. There are also prizes for rankings and early access to new releases.

Registration at BetStorm

We found the registration process quick and fairly easy; within a few minutes we were signed up and ready to start betting.

Steps we followed to register

  1. We went to the website and clicked on “Register”
  2. We filled in the basic details (email, password and date of birth)
  3. We confirmed that we were of legal age
  4. We provided some personal details (such as our address)
  5. We accept the terms and conditions and create the account
  6. We made our first deposit so we could start betting

 Account verification:

To use the account without restrictions, we had to complete the verification process, which is standard practice at regulated UK operators to comply with legal and security requirements.

  • We uploaded a photo of our ID card/passport to confirm our identity
  • We submitted proof of address (such as a utility bill or bank statement)
  • We verified the payment method we were going to use
  • And that’s it. Once that was done, the account was fully active.
If you haven’t completed the process, the account may have limitations, such as being unable to withdraw funds or even facing certain restrictions on deposits.

Deposits & withdrawals

We found the payment methods to be quite comprehensive and easy to use. There are options for almost everyone – cards, online banking, e-wallets and even prepaid cards – and most work instantly, which is what we appreciate most when we want to start betting quickly.

We used Apple Pay, and it was very convenient: you choose the amount, confirm on your mobile with Face ID or a code, and in seconds your balance is ready to bet.

As for the other methods, Visa and Mastercard also work instantly and usually have limits that vary depending on the bank; PayPal (only available in the UK and Ireland) is just as fast and commission-free.

We also saw PaySafeCard options, which allow you to top up from €10 to €700 using prepaid credit without needing a bank account.

Others, such as Payz, operate via an app or digital wallet; these are also instant and have a minimum deposit of around €20. Methods such as Neteller and Skrill offer a comprehensive range of features (with higher limits, up to €5,000 in some cases), but they are not available in the UK, and the same applies to options such as Neosurf or Swiffy EFT, which depend on the country.

As for withdrawals, most methods take between 1 and 7 working days to complete. We tried withdrawing via PayPal, and it was quite straightforward. We requested it from the cashier, it took around 1 working day to process, and then the money arrived a few days later. The good thing is that they send you an email when the withdrawal is underway, so you can track the status without having to keep checking all the time.

The fastest methods are e-wallets such as Neteller or instant bank transfers, which can take just 1 working day to arrive; others, such as card or PayPal, usually take between 3 and 7 working days depending on the bank. There are also options such as Payz, which usually take around 3 working days.

Card withdrawals aren’t always available in every country, especially with Visa or Mastercard due to issuer restrictions, which is quite common with UK operators. In some cases, they may delay or review withdrawals if there are pending deposits or incomplete verifications.

What we liked least is that they charge a fee of between 1% and £3 on withdrawals, depending on the amount.

BetStorm Mobile App

We couldn’t find a mobile app, and to be honest, we were quite surprised, because it’s a very comprehensive bookmaker, with loads of sports, markets and promotions. That’s precisely why we expected it to already have an app, so we hope they don’t take too long to launch one.

Even so, the mobile experience was good. We placed bets directly from the browser and had no problems whatsoever. Everything adapts well to the responsive version; the website is fast and well organised, just like on a computer. We were also able to use all the features without restrictions, including live betting, statistics, markets and general navigation.

Customer Support and Available Languages

We had to test the customer service for a minor query, and overall the service was satisfactory, though there is room for improvement in some areas. They have several support channels available:

  • 24/7 chatbot
  • Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section

The 24/7 chatbot is the most accessible option and works quickly for basic queries. In our case, it responded quite quickly, but it’s clear that it doesn’t always provide very detailed or personalised answers, especially if the question is somewhat more specific.

The FAQs are also available, but we did find them a bit lacking. Given that the platform is otherwise quite comprehensive, we believe this section could contain more information and be better explained, as you sometimes have to search a bit to find what you need.

Awards and Recognitions

As for awards or recognition, we haven’t found that BetStorm has any, at least not yet. It doesn’t appear to have won any major awards, which isn’t all that unusual for a new bookmaker.

This isn’t a negative point; it makes up for it with other aspects such as the variety of sports, the promotions and the number of markets on offer, which is what really matters.

Usability, design and user experience

The BetStorm website is quite good in terms of usability and design. Everything is quite clear: sports, live betting, deposits… It loads quickly and runs smoothly on both desktop and mobile, so you can switch between matches or markets without any hassle.

The overall betting experience is quite good. There are plenty of markets, everything is easy to understand and straightforward, so it’s quite user-friendly if you’re new to betting.

One area for improvement is customer service; it works, but it’s quite limited. The chatbot gets you out of a tight spot for simple things. You don’t get such direct or quick contact with a real person, and the FAQs aren’t much help because they lack information.

On the other hand, there’s no mobile app. For a bookmaker with such a wide range of sports, markets and features, we’d have expected at least a well-developed app. You can use the website on your mobile without any issues, but it’s not the same as having an app.

Looking at people’s reviews, we’ve seen that everyone has a similar opinion:

“It’s good for quick betting; it’s never crashed on me.”
“It has some unusual leagues that I don’t see at other bookmakers; that’s cool.”
“It’s not the prettiest website, but it’s easy to use.”
“It works well for live betting, which is what matters.”

Responsible Gambling

BetStorm takes responsible gambling very seriously; they remind you of several important things, such as that gambling is just entertainment, that there are no tricks or sure-fire systems for winning, and that you should never bet more money than you can afford to lose. They also stress that you shouldn’t try to recoup your losses.

They provide tools to help you stay in control, such as money and time limits, in-game reminders, and options like pausing your account or self-excluding if you need to. You can also block access using software or activate parental controls for minors, as access is prohibited to those under 18.

If at any point you have any concerns or feel you need to take a break, you can contact their support team or activate self-exclusion directly from your account.
