FPL 2026/27 new features and rule changes: Everything you need to know
FPL 2026/27 changes include live mini-league updates, a Player Price Predictor and changes to bonus points. Here are all the new rules and features
Fantasy Premier League is introducing several changes ahead of the 2026/27 season, with managers set to receive more information during matches and new tools to help them make better-informed transfer decisions each gameweek.
Live league standings, a new Player Price Predictor and updated squad displays are among the headline additions, while the Bonus Points System and Gameweek scoring process have also been adjusted slightly.
The chips system remains the same as last season, although the timing of the Gameweek lockdown is changing. Further FPL 26/27 updates, including player position changes and prices, are expected before the new campaign begins in late August.
Here is everything we know so far about the biggest FPL 2026/27 changes.
Mini-leagues to receive live updates
One of the biggest changes to Fantasy Premier League in 2026/27 will be the introduction of live updates to mini-leagues and other competitions.
Managers will now be able to follow changes to their position in the overall FPL rankings and mini-leagues throughout matches, rather than waiting for the game to finish.
The same applies to head-to-head leagues and FPL Cup ties, meaning managers should have a much clearer idea of how their results are developing while games are still being played.
Projected bonus points will also be added to player scores after 20 minutes of each match. These provisional bonus points will then continue to change as the Bonus Points System develops throughout the game.
New FPL Player Price Predictor explained
A new FPL Player Price Predictor will give managers an indication of which players could be set for a price rise or fall, providing a massively valuable tool for everyone playing.
The tool will monitor official FPL transfer data and use that information to predict potential changes to player prices, and then its daily predictions will be updated at 00:00 UK time.
The Player Price Predictor is not a guarantee that a player’s price will change, but it gives an accurate prediction based on manager transfers around the world.
Many FPL managers may have used player price predictor tools from third-party websites in the past, but now it will be fully integrated into the official app and website.
A big frustration for FPL managers is taking out a player after they have decreased in value, or/and bringing in a player one day too late after their price has increased. Knowing when a player’s value will decrease/increase can give you that extra day to learn more accurate team news on their availability. And over the course of the season, gaining even 0.1m each week can have a big impact on your overall team value and thus your ability to bring in better players in the latter stages.
FPL chips remain unchanged in 2026/27
There will be no changes to the FPL chips in the 2026/27 season. Managers will once again have two sets of the four chips available:
- Wildcard
- Free Hit
- Triple Captain
- Bench Boost
That means eight chips in total across the campaign, with one set available in each half of the season.
The first set must be used before the Gameweek 19 deadline at 13:30 GMT on Saturday, January 2, 2027. Any unused chips from the first half of the campaign cannot be carried over.
Managers will also continue to be able to roll up to five free transfers, as implemented last season.
However, the extra free transfers awarded last December to help managers deal with the Africa Cup of Nations tournament will not be repeated in 2026/27, as the AFCON is not being held during this campaign.
Defensive contribution points will remain part of FPL for the new season after being introduced at the start of 2025/26.
New FPL squad views and player info
Fantasy Premier League managers will also have more ways to view their squads in the 2026/27 season.
New squad views will be available on the Pick Team, Points and Transfers pages, allowing managers to access more important information without having to navigate through multiple screens.
The new views will show details including:
- Fixture Difficulty Ratings (FDR)
- Player ownership
- Each player’s next opponent
Additional information, including player form and the likelihood of a price rise or fall, will also be added once the new FPL season is underway.
FPL career history comparison feature
A new feature will allow managers to compare their FPL career history with other players around the world. Managers will be able to see their average performance across all of their FPL seasons and find out how that record compares with the wider community.
That means a poor 2025/26 season does not necessarily tell the full story. Managers will be able to assess their overall record and see whether they rank in the top half, top 10 per cent or even higher compared with other FPL players. Another very useful tool for those who love statistics.
FPL Bonus Points System changes for 2026/27
The Bonus Points System (BPS) is also being tweaked ahead of the 2026/27 Fantasy Premier League season, in another important FPL change ahead of the new campaign.
The changes are designed to reduce overlap between BPS scoring and defensive contribution points while improving the prospects of goalkeepers, full-backs and attacking players when bonus points are awarded.
The BPS plays a crucial role in deciding which players receive bonus points after every Premier League match, making these changes particularly important for FPL managers.
The introduction of live projected bonus points during matches should also give managers a better idea of which players are currently in line to receive bonus points.
FPL Gameweek lockdown moved to later time
The FPL Gameweek lockdown will take place later in 2026/27.
The final scores for a Gameweek will now be locked at 09:00 UK time on the day after the final match of the Gameweek.
Previously, the lockdown took place one hour after the final whistle of the last match.
The additional time will allow post-match Opta review data to be incorporated into the Bonus Points System and defensive contribution points. This should help improve the accuracy of final Gameweek scores.
