Tuesday 28 July: Goodwood Cup Day
The opening day is built around the Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup, the festival’s two-mile Group 1 contest. ITV’s live programme covers the first five races, from the Chesterfield Cup through to the 5f handicap.
Wednesday 29 July: Sussex Stakes Day
Wednesday’s feature is the Visit Qatar Sussex Stakes. The one-mile Group 1 traditionally brings together leading three-year-old and older milers and is due off at 4.10pm.
Thursday 30 July: Ladies’ Day and the Nassau Stakes
The Qatar Nassau Stakes is Thursday’s main event. The Group 1 is contested over approximately 1m2f and is restricted to fillies and mares.
Goodwood also stages the Markel Magnolia Cup charity race on Ladies’ Day before the main programme. It is separate from the eight races in the official card below.
Friday 31 July: King George Stakes Day
Friday is the fastest day of the festival. The King George Qatar Stakes, a Group 2 sprint over five furlongs, is the headline race at 3.35pm. The competitive Golden Mile is another major attraction.
Saturday 1 August: Stewards’ Cup Day
The meeting closes with the Stewards’ Cup, a famously competitive six-furlong handicap with a maximum field of 28 runners. The Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes provides the day’s principal Group-race action.
