Tyler Adams has “no eyes on the World Cup” as he aims for historic European spot with Bournemouth

Tyler Adams has dismissed talk of the 2026 World Cup, insisting his sole focus is helping Bournemouth secure a historic first-ever European qualification.
The United States international, a key figure for the USMNT setup, recently returned from the knee injury he suffered in December and is now concentrating on regaining rhythm at club level.
Adams made his first start since the setback in Bournemouth’s 0-0 draw away at West Ham, completing 66 minutes in a composed midfield display.
Despite the World Cup looming on home soil later this year, Adams made it clear that looking too far ahead is not part of his mindset.
“I’m looking forward to playing whenever I can because I know that I can help the team in a positive way,” he told the Daily Echo.
“I have no eyes on the World Cup. It’s still too far away.
“And I think when you start to look too far ahead, you get lost in between. So for me, it’s just focusing game by game now.”
European ambition driving Bournemouth
Instead of international ambitions, Adams’ attention is fixed firmly on Bournemouth’s remarkable domestic campaign. The Cherries currently sit eighth in the Premier League table and are firmly in the conversation for a European berth, something the club has never achieved in its history.
Adams acknowledged the steady progress the club has made in recent seasons and stressed the importance of patience as they attempt to build on that upward trajectory.
“I think that Bournemouth has achieved really good things in the past couple of years and we’re trying to continue that trajectory, but it takes patience,” he added.
European qualification would represent a landmark achievement for the south coast side and further underline the club’s evolution under Andoni Iraola into a competitive Premier League outfit.
For Adams personally, staying fit and influential will be crucial. The midfielder’s leadership, defensive awareness and energy have made him a vital presence both for club and country, and his return provides a timely boost during the season’s decisive stretch.
Bournemouth’s run-in now presents an opportunity to turn steady progress into history, with Adams determined to keep his focus on the last 11 games of the season and the possibility of European nights at the Vitality Stadium.
