Betfred Football Feature: Sub Switch

World Cup

Betfred features Sub Switch, a built-in insurance policy for player-specific football markets. If a player included in your pre-match wager gets substituted by the manager, your bet does not die—it automatically transfers over to the oncoming substitute player for the remainder of the match.

  • Feature Nature: Automatic player bet rollover (insurance feature).
  • Availability: Active on selected pre-match football fixtures.
  • Eligibility: Open to new, existing, and restricted verified online Betfred accounts.

🕹️ How It Works and Qualifying Rules

You do not need to opt-in manually to use this feature; it applies automatically if you build your bet under the following conditions:

  1. Timing: The feature applies strictly to Pre-Match singles or Bet Builders. In-Play live bets are completely excluded.
  2. Identification: Look for the Sub Switch icon next to the player markets. If the icon is missing, the market is not covered by this protection.
  3. The Trigger: If the player you chose is substituted off the pitch at any point during regular or extra time, your exact selection (e.g., Shots, Cards, Goals) rolls over to the player coming onto the field.

Exclusions to keep in mind

  • Penalty Shoot-outs: Sub Switch does not apply to any events happening during a penalty shoot-out.
  • Dead Legs: If your Bet Builder contains other standard, non-Sub Switch legs that have already lost during the regular 90 minutes, the bet is settled as a loss and will not continue into Extra-Time.
  • Voided Bets: Standard voiding rules still apply if a player fails to step onto the pitch at all.

📊 Covered Markets and Settlement Data

Sub Switch is not universal but covers the most popular player performance metrics.

📋 Official Data Source: All Sub Switch markets are settled strictly using official OPTA data. No other statistics, video replays, or alternative data websites will be used to alter or dispute settlement decisions.
