Betfair Sprint Cup 2026: Confirmed Runners, Draw, Odds and Favourite

Three leading racehorses break from the Sprint Cup

Nine sprinters, six furlongs and unfinished business: the Sprint Cup 2026 runners are confirmed for Haydock on Saturday 5 September. Before weighing the favourite against the defending champion, readers can compare UK horse-racing betting sites and current bonuses. The final field is far smaller than the 29-name entry list — and more interesting now every horse has a stall.

Sprint Cup 2026 runners and Haydock draw

The final declarations produced nine runners. Comanche Brave, who led parts of the early ante-post market, is not among them and must not be presented as a confirmed runner.

Can Big Mojo make Sprint Cup history?

Victory would make Big Mojo only the second dual winner, after Sir Peter O’Sullevan’s Be Friendly took the first two editions in 1966 and 1967. Last year’s 16/1 winner returned to form in August’s Group 3 Phoenix Sprint Stakes.

This is sprinting dressed as noir: nine horses disappearing into Haydock’s grey afternoon, the favourite trying to relax while last year’s outlaw breaks from seven. Almeraq owns the cleanest Group 1 form, but soft ground compresses reputations and six furlongs leaves no time for an apology. Big Mojo’s price buys doubt; his course record buys the counterargument.

He is in good order, and he is as good as he has ever been.” — Michael Appleby on Big Mojo

Almeraq is the rightful favourite, although cover may be crucial after he raced too freely in the July Cup. Kind Of Blue has soft-ground Group 1 form and was second here last year. Big Mojo is the history bet, not the safe one.
