Brazil v Norway – predictions and odds – 2026 World Cup (5 July 2026)

One of the best matches of the 2026 World Cup round of 16 will be played at the venue set to host the final on 19 July: MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, very close to New York, in the United States. Vinicius’s Brazil take on Haaland’s Norway. There will be talent galore on the pitch, with Raphinha also expected to feature, whilst Odegaard and Sorloth could play their part in this thrilling clash.
Both teams progressed after closely fought matches in the round of 32. The Brazilians came from behind after Japan’s opening goal and scored the winner in added time. The Norwegians, for their part, scored the goal that secured their place in the next round with five minutes remaining in normal time. This match is expected to feature chances at both ends, with an end-to-end nature that could make it one of the most entertaining fixtures of the World Cup.
‘Final score’ prediction
A closely contested match is expected, with possession shifting back and forth between two sides that have players capable of causing the opposition real trouble. For Brazil, the key players are Bruno Guimaraes in midfield and Vinicius up front, whilst for Norway, Odegaard pulls the strings and Haaland is the man in charge of scoring. It’s difficult to predict what will happen over the full ninety minutes, but it’s certainly not out of the question that extra time will be needed to decide the winner.
‘To qualify’ prediction
An interesting market is the winner of the tie. In this case, and despite Brazil being the favourites due to the prestige of their five-star jersey, it will be a contest where both sides have a chance. In fact, the quality of the Scandinavians could cause the Canarinha a lot of trouble; if they don’t improve on the performance they showed in the first half against Japan, they’re going to struggle. Therefore, a very interesting option is for Norway to qualify for the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup.
‘Build Your Own Bet’ Prediction
As for creating our own bet, we’re going to opt for a combination of two options. Firstly, that there will be over 2.5 goals in the ninety minutes. Given the attacking potential of both teams, a high-scoring match is expected. Secondly, the double chance of a draw or a Norwegian win in normal time.
