Jordan v Argentina – predictions and odds – 2026 World Cup (28/06/2026)

Group J has already been decided, and the winners are none other than Messi’s Argentina. The Albiceleste have won both their matches, with all five of the team’s goals scored by their captain. This means this final match is a mere formality for the world champions, who are likely to field a heavily rotated side. Jordan v Argentina will be played at AT&T Stadium in Dallas.
Jordan have stood no chance
The Jordanian national team were making their World Cup debut, led by Tamari, a striker for French side Stade Rennes.
Their chances of qualifying hinged largely on beating Algeria in the clash between the two teams that, on paper, appeared to be the weakest in the group. However, they failed to do so. Jordan took the lead in the 36th minute, but eventually succumbed after a second half in which the Africans were clearly the better side.
In their opening match, they had already lost 3–1 to Austria, in a game in which they created very little in attack.
For this final match, their only incentive is to try and secure their first points at a World Cup. It will be no easy task, even if Argentina field a second-string side. It also remains to be seen whether Jamal Sellami will take the opportunity to give playing time to less-used players, something that would make perfect sense now that elimination and last place in the group have been confirmed.
Argentina aiming to retain the title
The Argentine national team arrived at the World Cup far from being among the top favourites, but these first two matchdays have significantly changed the betting market’s perception of the Argentines. The odds have brought them closer to teams such as France, Spain and England, placing them amongst the main contenders for the title.
Much of that improvement comes down to one man: Lionel Messi. All five of Argentina’s goals in the tournament have been scored by him.
Precisely for that reason, there are huge doubts surrounding Scaloni’s starting XI for this match. The team has already secured top spot in the group, and it would be logical to expect extensive rotation, including a rest for Messi.
The big question is what Scaloni and Messi himself will prioritise: continuing to add to their goal-scoring records and competing for the tournament’s top scorer award, or saving their energy for the knockout stages, where there is no longer any margin for error.
Jordan v Argentina Prediction
The match has lost much of its appeal from a betting perspective. Argentina are already top of the group, come what may, whilst Jordan are already bottom, come what may.
As a result, the interest in the match may lie more in the individual players than in the score. Jordan will be looking to bid farewell to the World Cup by picking up a point, whilst several Argentine substitutes will have a superb opportunity to prove themselves and gain prominence ahead of the qualifiers.
That’s where I like to look at the betting market. If Scaloni does indeed make a lot of changes to the line-up, there will be attacking players who will go from playing a supporting role to becoming the main focal points of the Argentine attack for the full ninety minutes.
In that scenario, there’s a bet on Julián Álvarez that I find interesting. The market for him to score or assist at odds of 1.57 makes sense if the starting XI features many changes and several regulars are rested.
It’s still a bet for a low stake, as we’re relying on line-ups we don’t yet know. But if Messi and other key players start the match on the bench, much of the attacking responsibility should fall on players like Julián.
And in a pressure-free match, against a team that’s already been eliminated and with Argentina looking to rotate their squad, I see a good chance that ‘La Araña’ will play a key role in a standout moment, either by scoring or setting up a goal.
