Switzerland v Bosnia – predictions and odds – 2026 World Cup (18/06/2026)

Group B of the 2026 World Cup has got off to a very even start, with two 1-1 draws on matchday one. On matchday two, the Swiss and the Bosnians will be looking to secure a win that would virtually guarantee their place in the round of 32. The results were the same, but the dynamics and the impression given were different. Bearing this in mind, and given that the Swiss are the superior side – having just completed a superb qualifying campaign and having played some excellent football at the last European Championship – we’re going to explain why Murat Yakin’s side should take all three points.
Although Xhaka, Embolo and co. ended up conceding a goal in the 94th minute against Qatar – an own goal, at that – it was by no means deserved. They dominated throughout the match and created chances to extend their lead. Only the poor finishing of players such as Ndoye and Vargas prevented them from scoring a second goal. With players like Freuler and Aebischer in midfield and the reassurance provided by Akanji at the back, this is a side with more than enough quality to finish top of the group in this first phase. They should beat the Bosnians without any trouble.
The fact is, Barbarez’s men’s draw against Canada, one of the host nations, can be described as a survival exercise. On this occasion, it was Jonathan David who squandered great chances created by gaps in the defence left by Katic, Muharemovic and company. Their main strength lies in set-pieces, and that’s how Lukic’s goal came about. A corner that he was able to finish off after it was flicked on at the near post. From then on, it was a case of holding firm and frustrating the opposition attackers by packing the defensive third with players. This was disrupted by Cyle Larin with his composure and technical ability. Only a lack of sharpness from March’s lads prevented defeat.
In short, we have a side that deserved to win but were punished too harshly on the one hand. On the other, a team capable of weathering the storm and making the most of nothing; although they created more chances than Qatar, they secured a point that was not particularly deserved. With all that in mind, our prediction is that Switzerland will win to a clean sheet. In other words, they won’t concede a goal, but they must take all three points. This seems a realistic prospect given Bosnia’s lack of attacking threat and the group favourites’ need to win.
