There was a fairly convincing response to that problem against Aston Villa on Sunday. Brighton were already 4-0 ahead after 31 minutes, before João Gomes was sent off, so the result cannot simply be explained by playing against ten men. They looked much sharper around the penalty area.

Tromso’s counter-attack has to be respected

This is the main reason I am reluctant to recommend aggressive Brighton handicaps as the safer bet. Hürzeler admitted that Tromso created dangerous moments in transition in the first leg, while the Norwegians have scored five at Cluj and six at Aalesund on recent away trips.

Tromso should be physically fresh

Rest is the one area where the visitors have a genuine advantage. All 11 starters from the first leg were left out of the cup squad at the weekend, while Brighton played a Premier League fixture on Sunday.
