Hungarian GP prediction: Tips and odds – Formula 1 2026

Formula 1 heads to the Hungaroring for the final race before the summer break, with Andrea Kimi Antonelli looking to extend his championship lead. The Mercedes rookie arrives in Budapest after winning the Belgian Grand Prix, his sixth victory of an outstanding debut season. With Mercedes looking strong and Antonelli in outstanding form, our Hungarian GP prediction is for another victory for the championship leader.

The Hungarian GP odds make Antonelli the clear favourite at 17/10, with Ferrari pair Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc next at 9/2. George Russell is available at 5/1, while Max Verstappen is priced at 13/2.

Antonelli’s recent form makes him the obvious starting point. His victory at Spa-Francorchamps was his sixth of the season and extended his championship lead to 45 points over Hamilton. The Mercedes rookie has combined impressive outright speed with remarkable consistency, and the team appears to have the strongest overall package heading into Budapest.

The Hungaroring could also suit Mercedes. The technical circuit rewards drivers who can qualify well and manage their tyres over long stints, while overtaking is often difficult. Antonelli’s ability to establish track position on Saturday could therefore be crucial to his chances of winning on Sunday.

Hamilton and Leclerc should provide the biggest threat. Ferrari have shown strong one-lap pace throughout the season, and the Hungaroring’s twisty layout could allow them to challenge Mercedes more closely than at Spa.

Value bets

When looking at the Hungarian GP schedule, qualifying position is particularly important. The narrow and technical nature of the circuit means that a strong starting position can be worth more than at many other venues.

That makes George Russell an interesting value option at 5/1. Mercedes have already shown themselves to be the team to beat, and if Russell can qualify ahead of his teammate or benefit from a problem for Antonelli, he has the pace to challenge for victory.

Max Verstappen is also difficult to ignore at 13/2, particularly if the weather at the Hungarian GP leads to significant tyre degradation or the race is influenced by strategy and a Safety Car. However, Antonelli remains the most convincing selection.
