London Lions welcome La Laguna Tenerife to the Copper Box Arena for Round 2 of EuroCup Group B. London arrive unbeaten domestically but lost their European opener 74-71 at Siauliai, while Tenerife have already beaten Turk Telekom and Unicaja.

The main question is whether London’s physicality and home court can disrupt a Tenerife side that has already shown it can manage difficult, close games.

  • Fixture: London Lions vs La Laguna Tenerife
  • Competition: BKT EuroCup
  • Round: Group B, Round 2
  • Date: Tuesday 6 October 2026
  • Tip-off: 19:30 BST
  • Venue: Copper Box Arena, London
  • Format: 40 minutes, plus overtime if required

How London Lions and Tenerife Arrive

London have won all five of their domestic matches, showing they can win both high-scoring and defensive games. Their EuroCup opener was more difficult, with poor three-point shooting contributing to a narrow defeat in Lithuania.

The encouraging part was their work on the offensive glass, collecting 15 offensive rebounds and remaining competitive despite shooting just 4-of-22 from three.

Tenerife arrive with a 2-1 competitive record after beating Turk Telekom in Europe and Unicaja away from home. Marcelinho Huertas and Kyle Guy were particularly influential in Malaga, while Tenerife’s experience and guard depth give them several ways to control the pace of a game.

Where This EuroCup Game Could Be Decided

The matchup should come down to whether London can turn this into a physical contest rather than allowing Tenerife to dictate half-court possessions.

Key factors London Lions vs Tenerife:

  • London’s rebounding: Second-chance opportunities could help compensate if their perimeter shooting remains inconsistent.
  • Tenerife’s guards: Huertas, Guy, Fitipaldo and Jaime Fernandez give the visitors greater control and creativity.
  • Home advantage: London should benefit from playing their first EuroCup game of the season at the Copper Box.
  • European experience: Tenerife have already handled strong opposition and won a difficult road game at Unicaja.
  • Tempo: London need to create turnovers and transition opportunities rather than allowing Tenerife to organise every possession.
  • Schedule: Tenerife travel after playing in Malaga, although their roster depth should help manage the turnaround.

London Lions vs Tenerife Match Outlook

London’s 5-0 domestic start deserves respect, but the level of opposition rises considerably here. Their defeat in Siauliai showed that they can stay competitive even when their shooting is poor, but Tenerife offer a more experienced and tactically controlled challenge.

There is no relevant previous head-to-head meeting, so current form and the stylistic matchup matter much more than historical results. Tenerife’s victories over Turk Telekom and Unicaja provide stronger evidence at this level, while London’s clearest route is through physical defence, offensive rebounding and home-court energy.

The moneyline tells the story fairly well. London are dangerous enough at the Copper Box that Tenerife cannot be priced as an overwhelming favourite, but the visitors’ recent level against Turk Telekom and Unicaja gives them the more convincing profile.

Tenerife to win

Odds 3/5

I’m keeping the safer play simple. Tenerife have already handled two demanding games in a row, and I trust their guards to make better decisions if this is close in the final five minutes. London can absolutely make them work, especially on the offensive glass, but Tenerife's depth and half-court control give me the stronger side.

I’m pushing the same read a little further here. If Tenerife stop London getting repeated second chances, I think their execution can create separation after half-time. The Lions showed at Siauliai that they can hang around, so this is the punchier option, but a two-possession Tenerife win is the angle I like.
