Real Betis welcome Bournemouth to La Cartuja on Saturday 8 August 2026 in a pre-season fixture that, on paper, looks far more appealing from a goals perspective than it does as a straight match-winner bet.

Both sides have been finding the net freely this summer. Betis have just put three past Arsenal after previously beating Lyon 4-0, while Bournemouth have played some exceptionally open football under Marco Rose. Betis have put together a very convincing summer so far. Manuel Pellegrini’s side have won five of their six friendlies, scoring 12 goals and conceding only two.

The scorelines are encouraging, but I am more interested in who they have performed well against. A 4-0 victory over Lyon was followed by a 3-1 win against Arsenal, which is a much stronger indicator than simply beating lower-level opposition during the opening weeks of pre-season.

There has also been a welcome boost with Isco returning to the pitch and getting 45 minutes into his legs. He may not yet be ready to dictate an entire match at full intensity, but his presence gives Betis another player capable of slowing the game down, finding pockets between the lines and creating better-quality chances.

What stands out most to me is the balance. Betis have been dangerous without becoming particularly easy to play through.

Bournemouth Form

Bournemouth’s summer has had a very different feel.

The Cherries have scored 19 goals across their opening three friendlies, beating St Pauli 4-1, Augsburg 5-2 and Genoa 10-1. Those numbers immediately catch the eye, although context is essential: the Augsburg and Genoa matches were played over four 30-minute periods, giving Bournemouth considerably more playing time than in a standard fixture.

Even so, Marco Rose’s early influence is already visible. Bournemouth have been direct, aggressive and willing to commit bodies forward. They are clearly using these matches to build an energetic attacking identity rather than trying to manage narrow scorelines.

Justin Kluivert’s hat-trick against Genoa was another positive sign, although Bournemouth are without Eli Junior Kroupi for an extended period following foot surgery.

The attacking signs are strong. Defensively, I am less convinced.

Betis have been tested at a higher level

One reason I lean slightly towards the Spanish side is the quality of their recent opposition.

Scoring four against Lyon and three against Arsenal gives me more confidence than Bournemouth’s inflated summer numbers alone. Betis have shown that they can create chances against strong technical sides while still retaining defensive structure.

Bournemouth matches have been wide open

Every Bournemouth friendly so far has gone Over 2.5 Goals, and both teams have scored in all three.

The 120-minute format in two of those fixtures means I would not simply extrapolate those scorelines directly into this match. However, it still tells us something about Bournemouth’s current approach: they are playing at a high tempo, attacking in numbers and leaving enough space for opponents to create chances of their own.

Betis have been much harder to score against

This is the statistic that makes me reluctant to back Both Teams to Score as the main selection.

Betis have conceded just two goals in six pre-season matches and kept four clean sheets. Bournemouth, by contrast, have conceded in every friendly they have played.

That difference makes Over 2.5 Goals more attractive to me than BTTS, because a 3-0 or 3-1 Betis win would still land the bet.

Isco improves Betis’ control

Friendlies often become disjointed after the break as both managers make several substitutions. Players who can retain possession and exploit tiring defensive lines become particularly useful.

Isco gives Betis exactly that sort of option. His return also makes Pellegrini’s side more difficult to press effectively, particularly if Bournemouth continue to play as aggressively as they have done this summer.

The 1X2 market is very tight

There is very little between the teams in the match-winner prices.

Betis are available at roughly 2.50, the draw is around 3.85, and Bournemouth are approximately 2.65.

I think Betis deserve to be marginally shorter than that. Their defensive record, home setting and performances against Lyon and Arsenal give them a slight edge in my book, which is why I am happy to use the home win as the more adventurous bet.

That combination is exactly why I expect goals without automatically assuming both sides need to score. If Bournemouth turn the match into an end-to-end contest, Betis possess enough attacking quality to contribute heavily to the total themselves.
