Wigan Warriors vs Hull KR Prediction (Super League) Odds and Bets 27.08.2026

Rugby league takes centre stage on Thursday night as Wigan Warriors host Hull KR in Round 25 of the Super League. The fixture looks very different from the heavyweight contest the two names might suggest.
Wigan are level with Leeds on 38 points near the top of the table and arrive on an outstanding run of 12 consecutive league victories. Hull KR, meanwhile, sit sixth after losing their last two matches and have named a heavily changed squad.

How Wigan Warriors and Hull KR are shaping up
Wigan Warriors form
Wigan could hardly arrive in better form. Their 26-12 victory over Wakefield last Friday extended their Super League run to 12 consecutive wins, a club record in the summer era.
Their previous four league results were a 34-6 win at Bradford, a 48-18 victory over Toulouse, a 20-8 success at Leigh and a 38-16 win against St Helens. Across those five matches, they scored 166 points and conceded only 60.
Jai Field and Bevan French can punish any disorganised defence, while Harry Smith provides structure and a strong territorial kicking game.
The 21-man squad includes Field, French, Liam Marshall, Smith, Luke Thompson, Brad O’Neill and Jake Wardle. Liam Farrell, Junior Nsemba and Jack Farrimond are not included, but Wigan still retain considerably more proven attacking quality than their opponents.
Hull KR form
Hull KR’s situation looks rather more complicated. They had put together three convincing victories — 40-16 against Bradford, 44-0 at Castleford and 28-10 against Catalans — before losing 34-28 to Warrington and then suffering a concerning 32-12 home defeat to Toulouse.
That result left the Robins sixth on 30 points, just two ahead of seventh-placed St Helens.
The biggest issue for this prediction is the squad. Mikey Lewis received a two-match suspension following the Warrington game, while Tevita Pangai Jr was also banned.
The 21-man squad travelling to Wigan contains several younger or less experienced players. Regulars Tyrone May, Jez Litten, Tom Davies, Peta Hiku, Joe Burgess, Dean Hadley, James Batchelor, Elliot Minchella and Jai Whitbread have not been named either.
Key factors behind my Wigan Warriors vs Hull KR prediction
1. Wigan’s winning run is supported by the scorelines
Twelve consecutive Super League victories is impressive enough, but the recent margins make the run even more relevant from a betting perspective.
Wigan have won their last five league matches by 22, 26, 30, 12 and 22 points, respectively.
This week, however, the market is asking them to cover a much larger margin because of Hull KR’s squad situation.
2. Hull KR’s spine has been heavily disrupted
This is the factor I cannot overlook. Lewis is suspended, while May and Litten are also absent from the 21-man squad. That removes a considerable amount of organisation from the Robins’ usual spine.
Poor last-tackle decisions could hand Field and French ideal counter-attacking possession, while defensive combinations with limited experience together may be exposed once Wigan begin moving the ball across the pitch.
3. The previous 62-4 result should not be taken at face value
Hull KR thrashed Wigan 62-4 in May, but that result needs a large asterisk when assessing Thursday’s match. Matt Peet made 14 changes and handed out 10 debuts ahead of the Challenge Cup final.
Nine days later, with a major trophy at stake, Wigan defeated Hull KR 40-10 at Wembley. That second meeting offers far more useful information when comparing the established core of each squad.
4. The competitive incentives point in the same direction
Wigan are level with Leeds on 38 points near the top of the table and cannot afford to ease off ahead of their next trip to Headingley.
Hull KR are sixth and also have plenty to play for, but their reduced squad makes translating that urgency into a strong performance much more difficult.
5. The match-winner price offers no value; the handicap is the real market
I would not recommend backing Wigan to win at 1/100. The far more revealing figure comes in the three-way handicap market, where Wigan are giving away 46 points at 20/21.
That is an enormous line between two established Super League clubs. I would normally be very cautious with a handicap of this size, but Hull KR’s confirmed squad creates an unusual situation.
Wigan Warriors vs Hull KR statistics
The current league figures and recent results provide the following comparison:
| Statistic | Wigan Warriors | Hull KR |
|---|---|---|
| Super League position | 2nd | 6th |
| Matches played | 24 | 24 |
| Wins | 19 | 15 |
| Defeats | 5 | 9 |
| League points | 38 | 30 |
| Points scored | 715 | 700 |
| Points conceded | 419 | 415 |
| Points difference | +296 | +285 |
| Last five league matches | W-W-W-W-W | W-W-W-L-L |
| Points in the last five matches | 166-60 | 152-92 |
One interesting detail is that the season-long attacking figures are quite similar: Hull KR have scored only 15 fewer league points than Wigan. That is why I would not describe the Robins as a poor side.
The difference on Thursday is far more situational. Wigan are in stronger form and, crucially, the Hull KR side taking the field will be some way short of the strongest version responsible for many of those 700 points.
Using season averages alone would therefore understate the importance of the team news.
Wigan Warriors vs Hull KR head-to-head
The two meetings in 2026 could hardly have been more different. Hull KR won the league fixture 62-4 on 21 May, when Wigan fielded a heavily changed side. Wigan then secured a 40-10 victory in the Challenge Cup final on 30 May.

Wigan Warriors vs Hull KR predictions
Wigan Warriors -46 handicap
I’m siding with the Wigan handicap. It is a monster line, so I’m not treating this as a free hit, but the gap between the two named squads is difficult to ignore. If Wigan get their tempo right early, I can see Field, French and Marshall finding repeated chances once KR begin defending longer sets.
Bevan French first try scorer
I’m going hunting for the bigger return with French to land the opening blow. He scored first against Wakefield last week, and this is exactly the sort of disrupted defensive unit he can hurt before it settles. Give him one broken-field opportunity near the KR line and things can happen very quickly.
