world cup predictions betbrothers UK

At Betbrothers, we didn’t want to sit out the World Cup, so we did what had to be done: we asked the entire team and got them to truly commit.

Each team member has shared their predictions for the tournament: which national team will be crowned champions, how far Spain will go, and who will finish as top scorer. And yes, Beni and Beto — our two fictional characters — have also taken part. They couldn’t miss it. 😀

Some have followed their instincts, others have gone with clear favorites, and more than a few have spent hours analyzing teams, matchups, form, and potential surprises to help shape the content on our website. So while this is all about predictions, you might find a few interesting insights to help you get a sense of what could happen during the 2026 World Cup.

That said, let’s dive into the Betbrothers team predictions. Who will get it right?

Borja Imbergamo – CEO

I think the winner will come from Spain, France, or Portugal. Spain might be too much of a favorite (and we all know the main favorite rarely wins the World Cup), and France will depend heavily on Mbappé’s form. Portugal looks like a very dangerous team with plenty of weapons. But come on, I’ll stick with our national team — we’re bringing home the second star.

I see France as very strong. They’re runners-up, they have an incredible squad, and I think there’s great continuity in both the project and the team. I liked them in the 2022 World Cup, I liked them in Euro 2024, and I believe in this 2026 World Cup they’ll finally get that bit of luck they’ve been missing to become world champions. And in the final, I see Spain. I hope I’m wrong!

It’s been 60 years since England won their only World Cup. With a stellar Harry Kane and a coach like Tuchel who hasn’t hesitated when making his squad selections, 2026 has to be the year for the Three Lions to win their second star. Portugal would be my second favorite, while Spain arrives with key players carrying fitness concerns…

The 2026 World Cup looks set to be one of the most competitive in recent years, given the immense quality of teams like Spain, France, England, and Portugal. But I’m going with a team that not many are thinking about: Brazil. Not only do they have a competitive squad, but they’re led by a top-level strategist like Carlo Ancelotti, who still has the challenge of winning something at international level. That said, I’m sure they’ll face a tough Spain side in the final.

People always say a World Cup will come along that surprises everyone and is more balanced than ever — it feels like that moment is arriving. Beyond the bookmakers’ favorites — France, Spain, Portugal, and England — and traditional powerhouses like Brazil and Argentina, there are a few teams that could surprise and go far in this 2026 World Cup. Some of these potential dark horses include Belgium, Morocco, and Colombia. But anyway, here are my picks.

I see Spain as the most balanced team with the best midfield in the tournament. With Pedri pulling the strings, Lamine fully recovered from injury and playing a key role in attack, and a very solid goalkeeping setup with Unai, Raya, and Joan, I don’t think there’s any team that can match La Roja — not even France, which for me is another top contender.

I think England has everything needed to return to the top of the World Cup podium. The Three Lions arrive with a full squad and enough quality to lift the trophy. For top scorer, I’ll go with Erling Haaland — a choice that rarely disappoints. And as a slightly different pick, a “dark horse”: I see Uruguay reaching the quarter-finals thanks to their competitiveness and history in major tournaments.

I think this is the most open World Cup in history. Spain is probably the team that convinces me the most — talent, quality, great atmosphere, and coming in as European champions — although I feel they might be missing that extra edge that could end up costing them. I have doubts about France because they have an incredible squad but seem to carry some internal issues. Portugal also looks very strong, although I’m not sure they can maintain that level until the end. Teams like Brazil, Argentina, or Morocco are also tough to beat, but I’ll stick with La Roja — hopefully they show that fighting spirit that, in my opinion, they still lack to deliver the final blow.

I’m going to take a risk and go with Portugal as champions. They’re not the favorite, but they’re a very complete team with a lot of attacking quality. Also, the favorite doesn’t usually win the World Cup. I see Spain having a good tournament but falling short of the final — probably reaching the semi-finals, depending on the draw. And for top scorer, I’m going with Haaland. If Norway gets out of the group stage, he’s the kind of striker who can get into the race with just a couple of inspired games.

Spain is leading most predictions as the winner of the 2026 World Cup. Without a doubt, they are the most in-form team in the world, having won Euro 2024 and finished runners-up in the 2025 UEFA Nations League. We also have to acknowledge that “La Roja” will have unstoppable players like Lamine Yamal on the wing, Pedri at the heart of the game, and Oyarzabal in the box. However, deep down I still hope Argentina or Brazil won’t let the trophy leave South America.

In my opinion, France has the most talented squad in the World Cup. On a good day, Kylian Mbappé is capable of turning a game around or even winning it on his own. And under normal conditions, he can hurt any defense. On top of that, this team has played in the last two World Cup finals and is a favorite to win in 2026.

As always, I’m playing it safe. And the safest bet is the team that arrives as the favorite and in the best form heading into the World Cup — Spain. It’s time to become world champions again, 16 years later!

We know that in every World Cup there’s always a “dark horse” making a deep run. And in a semi-final or final, in a one-off match, anything can happen in a tournament like this. I think Norway has a real chance to cause an upset. They have world-class players like Haaland, Sørloth, and Ødegaard who can decide games.
